"TMC engaging In 'Vote Jihad' against BJP": PM Modi's Barrackpore rally attack
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on his re-election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Shehbaz, who assumed office for the second time after being sworn in on Monday, faces the challenge of leading a country grappling with economic turmoil and political instability following an inconclusive election.
Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, "Congratulations to Shahbaz Sharif on being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan".
In the February 8 elections, Shehbaz's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party secured the second position, while independent candidates supported by Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the largest bloc in Parliament but fell short of a majority. Despite facing challenges, Shehbaz won the election for premiership with a comfortable margin, receiving 201 out of 336 votes in Parliament. His victory underscores the support he garnered from both PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as the consensus candidate.
